Glyphosate herbicides negatively impact human health
Recent research out of MIT suggests that glyphosate, the active ingredient in Roundup herbicide, may be a pathway to many modern diseases. In the study published in the Journal of Geophysical Research, researchers examine the role glyphosate exposure plays in inducing disease. Glyphosate has been classified as having a low level of toxicity, but this paper details the process by which glyphosate disrupts gut bacteria and can increase the adverse effects of other foodborne chemical residues and environmental toxins. In the long term, this could contribute to many of the diseases common in the United States, including gastrointestinal disorders, obesity, diabetes, heart disease, depression, autism, infertility, cancer and Alzheimer’s disease.
