Cranberry-orange holiday relish
Welcome the holidays to your table with this refreshing side dish that will compliment any holiday meal. Cranberries are not only delicious, they’re healthy, but make sure that when you’re in the grocery store, minimize your pesticide exposure by choosing organic cranberries!
The Research
Conventional cranberry bogs rely on a large number of insecticides, fungicides and fertilizers during fruit production. In fact, a 2008 report found that cranberries had the highest dietary risk index score across all tested domestically grown fruits due to both the number of chemicals used and the toxicity of those chemicals.
The Recipe
Makes about 6 servings
Ingredients
- 2-10 oz. packages of fresh organic cranberries
-
2 large peeled organic oranges
-
1 ½ cups of sugar
-
½ tsp cinnamon
Directions
Add peeled oranges and fresh cranberries to the food processor until well chopped. Mix in sugar and cinnamon. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours and up to 2 days to allow sugar to dissolve and flavors to combine.
