In February 2006 The Organic Center sponsored a
symposium at the 2006 annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). Four scientists spoke about steps taken in the last decade to reduce children's pesticide exposures, and compared and contrasted progress made as a result of innovation in pesticide chemistry and Integrated Pest Management systems, through ecolabel programs, including organic certification, and by regulation. While some progress has been made in reducing pesticide risks, the report presents the science supporting the need for stronger action and outlines constructive steps required to accelerate progress.
